A model to explore · Grid 71 workshop
DatacenterVille
Follow power. Follow cooling. See why evidence and human judgment matter.
Fictional teaching simulation. Simplified scripted behavior—not engineering or operational guidance.
Normal operation
Both conceptual power paths and cooling are available in this fictional baseline.
Event evidence
Scripted event order, not real timestamps. A reported action is not proof of physical work.
Model, assumptions and limitations
This is a fictional teaching and portfolio demonstration. It is not operational guidance, engineering software, certification, a construction diagram or a representation of an actual facility. No organization or manufacturer endorses this model.
- Power, cooling and IT states are qualitative scripted labels. No electrical waveforms, trip timing, thermal response, fuel use, battery runtime, thresholds or engineering margins are calculated.
- Chilled water serves the air handlers; air cools the racks. Pipe endpoints are illustrative. A/B paths and UPS conversion stages are conceptual. Two pumps do not bypass a shared-pipe fault. Source recovery does not cancel a latched safe stop.
- Alarm observation, evidence, automated response, repair report, maintenance release, readiness and human authorization are separate events. A software control does not establish physical isolation or completed repair.
- No recognized fault is not proof of health. Real work requires appropriate qualified people and facility-specific procedures.
- Scenarios are reconstructed from recorded DatacenterVille handoff concepts. The earlier standalone HTML source was unavailable; this is a new implementation, not a verified reproduction of that file.
- Playback pace is for reading, not simulated real-world timing. Back rewinds the story; Restart resets the selected scenario. No scenario progress is saved or transmitted.
How to explore
Drag the model to rotate. Pinch or use the wheel to zoom. Tap a zone or select one of the five zone buttons. Return to Facility restores the overview. Camera buttons provide keyboard equivalents.
Choose a story, then use Next or Play. Play pauses at human authorization gates. Hiding this page pauses playback; returning never catches up automatically. Reduced motion stops flow animation and makes camera changes direct. Scroll normally outside the model.
